Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Jordan Fernald Funeral Home (Hancock County Maine)

Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home in Hancock County Maine is currently seeking a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer/or Apprentice. We are a progressive firm with two facilities in two locations in Hancock County Maine.

Jordan- Fernald Funeral Home is known for its personal and professional care and services. “Jordan-Fernald caring for generations.”

 Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide services to our families in a caring and professional manner
  • Dressing/Casketing/Cosmetics of decedents
  • Embalming/Disposition Preparation (if an apprentice-under the supervision of a licensed funeral director)
  • Coordination and oversight of visitations and arranging and directing funerals (if an apprentice-under the supervision of a licensed funeral director)
  • Compliance with company policies and local, state and government regulations regarding OSHA, FTC, MSDS, etc.
  • Coordinate and manage with other entities, including but not limited to cemeteries, crematories, airlines or other funeral homes
  • Represent the company in civic and professional organizations and other activities as directed
  • Data Entry using ME Dave System.  

 Job Requirements:

  • Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing
  • Ability to meet physical demands of lifting, pushing and pulling approximately 150 pounds
  • Good organizational, communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and assist in all duties
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel and Windows DVD Maker
  • Empathy and patience with grieving families
  • Detail oriented, self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings

Apprentice Funeral Director

Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home (York, Maine)

The Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, located in York, Maine, is committed to handling every family they serve with care and compassion through dedicated professional funeral and cremation service. We are a family owned & operated funeral home and have been serving the Southern Maine seacoast community since 1927. We are looking for a newly licensed or recently graduated apprentice to assist the owner/funeral director.

Position Duties:

  • removals
  • calling hours
  • funerals
  • regular cleaning of property, interior and exterior including vehicles
  • assist in dressing, casketing of deceased
  • assist Director with office tasks as needed
  • schedule to include "on-call" hours, weekends needed

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment from an accredited mortuary college
  • Physical ability to lift 75lbs
  • Valid and clean driver's license/record
  • Professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Ability to respond to York area death calls within 20 minutes

This is a flexible position, 20-40 hours available.

Boule Funeral Home has been known for its personal care and pre-need services since 1945. We are looking for a newly licensed or recently graduated apprentice/funeral director to assist in all aspects of the business and join our team!

Position Duties:

  • Disposition paperwork completion
  • Data entry using the MA VIP System
  • Dressing/Casketing/Cosmetics of decedents
  • Conducting visitations and funeral services (If an apprentice- under the supervision of a licensed funeral director)
  • Embalming/Disposition Preparation (If an apprentice- under the supervision of a licensed funeral director)
  • Coordinating and executing funerals, wakes, and memorial services

Requirements

  • Associates Degree from an accredited mortuary college
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs
  • Empathy and patience with grieving families
  • Willingness to learn and assist in all duties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
