Job Duties

  • Daily driving within an established route.

Position Description:
Forastiere Family Funeral & Cremation has a wonderful career opportunity for an Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer in the Springfield, Massachusetts area.  Seeking an individual who is ready to learn all facets of the industry focused on quality care and professional customer service. This position allows for significant hands on learning and growth, in addition, they are seeking a long-term fit. It is required to be enrolled in mortuary school for this position or have completed mortuary school and to live within twenty-five minutes from the funeral home for quality service delivery.

Position Duties:
Duties of this position include lifting and standing, transfers, working closely with a team and independently, learning how to and execute arrangements with families, provide quality service delivery, speaking professionally in-person and on the telephone with client families and the community, embalming dressing, cosmetics, working services, weekends, nights, holidays coverage and executing paperwork.  Must live within 25 minutes of the funeral home to provide quality service delivery.

Position Duties:

  • Performs removals of deceased from hospital, nursing home or residence to transport to the funeral home.
  • May perform removals from prep rooms or embalming facilities as well.
  • Maintains and ensures removal vehicle is clean inside and out and is properly maintained.
  • Maintains adequate supply of Personal Protective Equipment in removal vehicles
  • Professional appearance required- Suit and Tie  (No visible tattoos or excessive piercings)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Pre-Arrangement Sales Representative is a licensed Funeral Director responsible for conducting preplanning seminars, community relations and meeting with families regarding prearranging. Please note that as we all come together to do our part and fight Covid -19, we have updated the role of our Pre-Arrangement Advisors to include virtual presentations.
