Reporting directly to the Brugger family managing partners, this role will be responsible for the following duties:

Removal, embalming, dressing, and preparation of deceased bodies Meeting with families on an as needed and pre-need basis to arrange funerals Overseeing completion of necessary legal documents, obituary submission, ordering goods and services as required Funeral and visitation detail which includes but is not limited to greeting guests and opening doors, lining up processionals, preparing necessary printing, setting up and tearing down chapel, flowers, and funeral parlor before and after services Follow up with families post-funeral

A minimum of five to ten years of funeral home experience Valid Pennsylvania funeral director’s license or ability to obtain one if working in another state Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and ability to be insured commercially Professional appearance and impeccable people skills Excellent verbal and written communication and attention to detail

What is Hospice?
HOSPICE CARE is a special kind of care that focuses on the quality of life for people & their caregivers who are living with life-limiting illness. Hospice care provides compassionate care for people in the last phases of incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible.

What do Volunteers do?
Hospice volunteers spend quality one-on-one time with patients as a friendly visitor. Reading books, playing cards, listening to music, sharing stories ... just bringing your compassionate self to the bedside.

What is required?
As a companion volunteer we ask for a minimum of one hour weekly. We offer convenient on-line training and team support in all of our locations: Brookline, Worcester, Westford, and Norwell, MA

  • Direct staff to ensure they meet a high standard of professionalism and service level
  • Ensure all files and documentation are timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Utilize systems to review merchandise options, enter contracts and complete necessary forms
  • Maintain open and effective communication and accurate, up-to-date client files
  • Participate in community events, groups and/or organizations as needed


  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Funeral Director/Embalmer preferred
  • Ability to perform transfers lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Holds or has the ability to obtain, within 90 days, a valid Funeral Director/Embalmer License in Massachusetts
  • Holds or has the ability to obtain, within 90 days, a valid Massachusetts Resident Individual Life Insurance Producers License.
  • Valid State issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through community involvement

What is Required:

  • All Funeral Directors should be used to walking through the funeral home to make sure everything looks neat and tidy, especially if we are slow, on a regular basis Maintain inventory (Prep Room, Showroom etc.) Monitor prep room cleanliness - Each team cleans prep room top to bottom on Wednesday when shift changes.
  • Make sure prep room is compliant with the state.
  • Able to perform body transfers. (Knowledge and physical ability) Strong customer service, compassion and caring.
